Going for TEA!

My friends, Jennie & sister Julie, are coming over to take me to a place called Paddington's Tea Room for lunch. Should be very girly!

I have been sick for almost a full week now and I'm REALLY tired of coughing and blowing my nose, althgouh it seems the most mucusy of it has passed. Phew. Being sick is the WORST. And I'll even admit that it's kind of fun for a day or two to have an excuse to do absolutely nothing, but by the 2nd day, I was bored out of my gourd. There's only so much tv I can watch.

I went to the See's candy store to redeem a gift cert for a lb of free candy (gift from a friend) because I'm having some company over tomorrow and I thought it would be good to have smoe chocolate to chow. The line was super long and I felt so sorry for the girls that worked there (they were all girls) because they have to wear these old-timey white smocks (they were truly smocks: long sleeves, bunched at the shoulders, long and sack like down past the waist, with big lapels and a huge black bow across the front), their hair up in a bun. It was a little creepy and they looked pretty stupid. I was wondering what a guy has to wear if he works there. Probably a uniform like the Good Humor ice cream man.

Anyway, if you buy something, you get a free sample - so I had a milk chocolate/caramel patty and it was D-li-shus.

I always talk about food in my blogs. My life revolves around what I ate and what I'm going to eat next. I'm very lucky I have a high metabolism or I'd be a whale.

Happy holidays to anyone reading this. I hope you have fun, see people you love, get to relax, get some nice gifts and eat like you live in a country that throws away tons of food every day!

Running, Capote, Matzo Ball

I am a runner. Not a DIE HARD runner, but I like to go 2-4 times a week and run for about 2-4 miles at a time. Enough to keep my girlish figure, you know. I went today for a little trot and it felt great. It's the cooler weather - I can't stand running when I'm hot, especially if the sun is beating down on me. I'd rather stab myself in the eye.

When I lived in MN, I used to run throughout the entire winter. It was my favorite time to run. It's a miracle I never broke my wrists considering how many times I fell on the ice. It was SWEET!

I saw the movie, Capote, tonight. It was great and Phillip Seymour Hoffman is brilliant in it. He is really an incredible artist. Also saw Good Night and Good Luck recently, which was great and I can't wait to see Shopgirl. Steve Martin is my hero. I'm sure I've mentioned this before in blogs or something, but I have had a lifelong love affair with his work and his brain and it's my dream to work with him someday.

Favorite L.A. fall/winter food... Canter's Deli Mishmosh! It's the huge matzo ball soup with all the extra stuff: carrots, kreplach, noodles, rice, chicken. It's so frickin' good I could die. I like to put in some Tobasco sauce. I don't know if that's a very Jewy thing to do - probably not - but oh well. Variety is the spice of life.

I taped an episode of The Tom Joyner Show today. It was a blast! The TJS is an hour long "black" variety style show that is syndicated on ABC. Here in L.A. it's on Sunday mornings at 3:30am, but it's prime slots in other parts of the country. I got to do 10 minutes of stand-up and couch talk afterwards. Maybe this will help me win over some black fans. Black audiences usually HATE me and want to kill me after my set. Can't we all just get along?!

I've got some good Tivo waiting for me (Desperate Housewives!!) so I'm on my way to the couch.

Peace,

Amy

I'm getting off my ass

Hey Everyone.... I have neglected my Friendster acct for far too long. I admit I was lured away by the sexy, hipper, MySpace. Let's admit that it IS hipper, but Friendster is, well, friendlier. I like both though, so I'm going to try to keep both up. If you're a doppleganger like me, I'm at http://www.myspace.com/amyandersoncomic

This has been a busy summer. After a couple weeks of thinking, "I have no life, I have no career, my phone is not ringing, poor me, poor me..." everything got nuts. Good nuts though. I started booking my college shows, made a small tv deal, started pitching another tv deal to heavy hitters, moved my Chop-SHTICK show to a better venue and became an instant step-mother. Oh, my 7 yr old chihuahua is also having behavioral problems which is becoming a huge time suck as well. That's not good, but the rest is, as they say, "all good".

I can't complain. I'm loving life right now and things couldn't be better, save for the canine urine all over my living room rug.

Does anyone out there know Cesar Millan - the Dog Whisperer guy? I need to get my dog on that show. He needs serious whisepring.

Well, I had better eat breakfast and work out before I only feel like eating breakfast. Quick plug for the next show! Hope everyone in SoCal can make it. Should be a good one!
